Pros

Good Compensation with a great benefits package.
Idea for traditional hunting salespeople.
Huge opportunities for those willing to relocate.

Cons

Historically numbers driven little concern for customer or relationship building.
Monopoly on business credit reporting in the US.
Institutional customers view D&B as a necessary evil.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more conservative in hiring and business forecasting. Understand that D&B no longer holds a monopoly on business credit information. Apply the same focus on customer relationships in private sector as you do to institutional and government customers.

    I worked at D&B

    Pros

    At one time the base and bonuses were amazing.
    The Health and Dental benefits were great.
    Management was also pleasant to work for.

    Cons

    They have a weak product and in the current market small business sales suffered. The problems with the product is that it is not used as wide spread with small business lending as with the larger companies and the information is only as good as the companies are reporting.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    You need to change the way you advertise the company. Most small businesses have never heard of you and therefore the need to use the high price point products are small.

    I worked at D&B

    Pros

    Good knowledge-share within the company. Comp plan very aggressive with decent base. Flexible work environment. Product is superior to nearest competitor which makes it a good lead to sell services.

    Cons

    Promised a lot of support but management never provided the tools needed to do the job. Money should be invested in marketing and growth but unfortunately, D&B is focused on protecting shareholders by reducing staff. Currently undergoing major restructuring and will continue to lose valuable people to competition.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Senior management should give support by providing lead-gen tools in order for sales team to perform. Leaving your sales teams with no marketing budget nor warm leads will spell doom quickly, hence why new business is down and will continue to decline.
