DDB Employee Review
DDB – “An agency unlike many others - I'd recommend DDB to anyone and everyone!”
Pros
It's a large company that operates like a small one. The Chairman and President know nearly everyone in the company (by walking around to say hello each week), and it's very much a "work hard, play hard" environment. They also seem to have a knack for hiring people whose personalities really meld together well, which makes fur a very fun, easy workplace and really helps you enjoy your job. They also have some very nice "perks" (that do come with working at almost any Omnicom agency) such as far more holiday days off that anyone else, stocked refrigerators with the products we do advertising for, a game room, a really amazing holiday party, a decent healthcare program, and a decent 401K offering.
Cons
There is no official "review" process. They should implement employee reviews for ALL employees - no matter your position or rank - at least once per year. And part of that process should include peer reviews that are incorporated into your overall review (the employee would give a list of, say, 5 names to their supervisor for their peer reviews). Also, I know that many of the creative folks are very overworked. We have a lot of business going on (which is great!), and the creative folks end up putting in far more hours per week than they should be (hence, we're probably understaffed in that department and people many burnout quickly).
Advice to Senior Management
Generally, everyone is really happy working here, so keep it up! But do make an effort to continually recognize work and efforts by giving internal promotions and raises, and keep making this a fun environment to work in.
Also, there should be a separate New Business creative team AND Project Manager. When New Business pitches come up, the leaders pull anyone and everyone onto it and most people simply do not have time for such an intense project along with all their other work! There should be a separate creative team and project manager strictly to work on New Business.
