Low pay, high stress. Promotions occur by who you know, not what you do.

    Pros

    good paid time off, can miss alot of days before being in danger of getting fired. free parking.

    Cons

    the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. As a collection agent I found many cases where new customers were not given all the required information by customer service and the installers. No chance for raise or promotions. Many dissatisfied customers, heard alot of complaints. Team leads were not interested in dealing with upset callers who wanted to talk to a supervisor. No employee appreciation shown.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Take more responsibility be more sympathetic to customers who have problems. Don't just sit there and avoid having to deal with problem phone calls. Grow up

    I have been working at DIRECTV

    Pros

    Free DIRECTV, technology is a key business driver. Excellent brand recognition, talented people. Move towards Internet facing products is exciting. New CEO has an approach of inclusion for other non revenue producing departments.

    Cons

    Lack of flexible work scheduling depending on department. Campus and facilities are sub par although plans to upgrade are in the works.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    More flexible work scheduling, maybe 9/80 and telecommuting with wider adoption throughout the company. Some of the old Hughes folks need to go.
