Pros

Professional work environment. Some great people to work with in all departments - Sales Ops, Field Services, Supply Chain, Customer Care, Analytics and IT. Had one manager that spent extra time training me and helped enable project success. Lots of challenging work.

Cons

Overly political. Difficult to get promoted. Too process oriented. Long release cycles lead to missed requirements in UAT stage. QA department is useless. Worked with one of the most diabolical managers in my career who purposely tried to sabotage one of my projects - they are no longer with the firm. Had another manager who used his team for the purpose of self aggrandizement. Challenging marketplace as future subscriber growth will be limited as competitive pressures from streaming persist.

Advice to Management

Try to better understand how managers treat your employees.

    Pros

Can't really think of one positive

    Cons

5 am morning meetings once a week, lack of integrity from the leadership, having a "no school policy" for employees (why wouldn't a company want their employee to extended their education, poor communication skills

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the "no school" policy. It's not cool to drop out of school.

    Pros

Compensation. But you should be wary of any employer who has an unusually high compensation package of comparable jobs, it can mean they have issues with retention - which was the case in this situation.

Very fast paced environment. This is good if you're a go getter, self sufficient and like constant challenges.

Almost everyone was friendly and solicitous.

    Cons

Poor communication skills. This is a very fast moving environment and dealing with managers with poor communication skills is death, and creates a lot of unnecessary and extra work. Employees seem to tiptoe around poor managers, and try to sort things out on their own.

Lack of respect for time management.

Glossing over issues until they become volcanic.

Onboarding/Administrative support. Being a new hire there made you feel like you were dropped into the Amazon jungle with little to no orientation, no point person for inquiries and set up support.

Everybody was stressed out. This had a lot to do with poor senior management in place that just should not be in those positions who created confusion and double work for staffers

Terrible knowledge transfer, nothing was documented/lack of SOP's.

    Advice to Management

Don't be afraid to move poor managers, the quality of work of professional staff downstream will improve, probably immediately.
