I worked at DIRECTV

Pros

good benefit, good management during my stay, and overall very friendly working enviornment.. they treat customers well, and also their employees...

Cons

a little lack of growth for a design type of engineer professional

Advice to ManagementAdvice

really not much to contribute, I think they were doing the right thing to grow their business... the only thing I would add is to be a little creative about counter the triple play challenge

I have been working at DIRECTV

    Pros

Working with great people who are smart and fun, interesting work and a fast paced environment, opportunity to learn alot, very collaborative work environment with amazing team spirit, excellent compensation and benefits package, nice facility, solid company

    Cons

Recent layoffs handled very poorly - ambush/blindside style for those laid off and layoffs communicated poorly to those co-workers still employed. There is a pretty high level or inappropriate behavior that is tolerated (hostile work environment, sexual harrassment). Unprofessional actions are not curtailed due to upper management being absent. Decision making and disciplinary actions that seem to be unreasonable (holding people accountable for things out of their control).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Come out of your offices and walk around more to see what is really going on; have a backbone. Make sure everyone knows the rules you plan to enforce. Reward and retain those who are professional and making contributions to the company's goals.

I have been working at DIRECTV

    Pros

The pay is much better than retail or food service, and the benefits are good.

    Cons

The place reeks of buddy-buddy and lately, they've been firing people who have been here 3 years or more left and right since the attendance policy became ungodly-strict (6 days you can miss total in 6 months if you have PTO to cover and no exceptions for inclement weather or doctor's notes) and the KPI metrics are at their all time strictest. Call grading based on discretion of the grader, essentially.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Enfore your policies for ALL agents, including the ones you like, or make them reasonable to actually retain employees.
