I worked at DISH as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

I had a great experience as an intern at Dish in the corporate finance department. As a recent graduate from business school, it provided me with real world experience that helped me get a job and prepared me for the workplace. I got projects from 3 people: a senior financial analyst II, a corporate finanace manager, and very occasionally with the VP of corporate finance.

Day to day work was a lot of excel, but a lot of the projects are interesting. I did variance reports for the marketing and sales departments, so I spent a lot of time meeting with them and learning about their projects and plotting their KPI's for our senior management. I prepared a dashboard weekly, and had to meet with the IT department to get access to the data.

Working at the office in MEridian was nice. There's a great view of the mountains, and there's a cafeteria with various cheap options. We did a hike in August and climbed a 14er with Charlie. I said hi and we chatted for a few minutes about college football. lol.

Overall: great experience for me where I got practical experience for the real world.

    Cons

Sometimes meetings were scheduled late in the evening. I had a weekly meeting at 7pm on Tuesdays. I had volunteered for it, but it was still difficult to stay in the office every week till 8pm as an intern!

I didn't get a job offer, which would have been a nice way to end the program.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make more job offers to interns!

I worked at DISH full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Let's you put food on your table

    Cons

Where to begin. Long hours, low pay, management only focuses on what you need to do better and gives no credit for what you do we'll! Forced sales by installers. Loved the work itself hated drone managers who's only purpose was to push employees as hard as possible to make sure everyone in management got their incentive bonuses

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value employee contributions. Stop worrying about your bonuses!!!!!!!
