I have been working at DST Global Solutions

Pros

Previously, employees have been DSTs strength, but DST is experiencing a serious drain of key staff, with a steady stream of resignations

Cons

Individual contracts do not have restrictions, but DST has built penalty clauses into many of its contracts with its clients, relating to employing any DST staff. This restricts employees from moving on to a large section of the financial industry in Australia.

HR is weak and ineffective. Employees are disengaged and this is compounded by another year of badly "managed" salary reviews.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire some more managers in the UK. That appears to be working.....not

    Pros

    Great work life balance, relaxed environment. People are great to work with and many SMEs who can (not will) get the job done.

    Cons

    Incompetant senior management
    Disconnect between senior management and staff
    Remuneration below par
    Remuneration non existant actually
    Lack of visibility around promotion
    No real career progression path

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Listen to staff (senior and junior)
    Remunerate hard working staff
    be proactive not reactive
    Aim should be long term growth not making budget in current year.

    Pros

    Technologist are top of their game.
    Very friendly staff.

    Cons

    Poor remuneration
    Poor understanding of the client base by management
    Poor understanding of technology by management & business
    No real responsibility taken for poor decisions by C-Level management.
    UK C-Level executive management have no respect for the staff outside of the UK
    Parent company is having the wool pulled over it's eyes by incompetent management teams in UK.

    Listen to your people, you hire them for their skills and understanding: most of them a far more intelligent than you!
