I have been working at DSW part-time for less than a year

Pros

Fun staff and positive work environment. Wonderful managers work within availability and provide training needed to progress. 30-40% employee discount.

Cons

Customer service takes the backseat to maintaining the cleanliness of sales floor. Massive multi-tasking: cash register, rewards card, service, recovering, stocking. No significant benefits associated with accomplishing these tasks.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Closing is tough when no one has really been cleaning up throughout the day. Expectations are often unreasonable in this regard, especially in closing Mens.

    Pros

    depending on the manager you can get a decent amount of hours, flexible, easy job.

    Cons

    point system is stupid, lack of respect from managers

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    yes we understand the point system but people get sick its hard to find someone to take your shift if you are sick.. instead of 7 being the max it should at least be 10 because it can quickly build up due to last minute fall-backs

    I worked at DSW full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    They were very friendly and would work with your schedule. They celebrated you and your accomplishments and your birthday.Customer service week was the best!

    Cons

    The supervisors had their favorites on each team. Unless you dress the part everyday and suck up you aren't moving up.They have monthly goals but no incentives.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Help people who are trying to move up in the company. Tell the supervisors not to show favoritism in specific type of employees. If there has to be a monthly goal add incentives or rewards.
