I have been working at DSW

Pros

The best reason to work is the discount on shoes! And you also get a discount on furniture... Its an okay place to work not stressful. I personally consider it "something to do".

Cons

The downside of working here is the management. They don't communicate well with each other which then does not lead the crew by good example.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get it together! Be fair! Set rules and stick with it. Don't let the employees tell you what they will/will not do. Be the BOSS!

    I worked at DSW

    Pros

    DSW has decent hourly wages for sales associates, a nice environment, and encouraging management.

    Cons

    Not a lot of opportunity to advance, getting enough hours is tough because of the amount of employees on staff, and management basically forces employees to follow customers around and bother them in attempts to make sales.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    The management needs to share associate performance more frequently with their employees.

    I have been working at DSW

    Pros

    Alot of aspects of job are normal retail but budgeted hours given stores are so low that managment has to pick up the slack and work ALOT of hours

    Cons

    Dont have a good work / life balance way too many hours worked as a manager. Pick a customer service model and stick with rather than changing it every other year and confusing the customers who just want to be alone to try on shoes anyway with passive more than agressive salesmanship .

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Listen to your store management group and your customers dont just figure you know whats going on when you havnt run a store.Theory is always different than reality
