    Pros

Once you pass your probation period they will not fire you for any reason. You can call in sick as myny times as you wish.

    Cons

poor management, overworked, underpaid. city in tight budget because of poor management. this year we got a pay cut instead of a raise. no vacation time and more furlough days.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    I worked at Dallas

    Pros

Dallas Public Library: Low stress environment. Surrounded by interesting books and interesting co-workers. Aesthetically, the place looks inviting and open.

    Cons

Most of the patrons are homeless people just passing the days away on the Internet or tryng to sleep at tables. Librarians field very few challenging reference questions nowadays. And collection development is centralized now. Most librarians are doing very little work that utilizes their MLS training.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Umm...advice seems irrelevant when library management is facing jaw-dropping budget cuts year after year.
