Dana Corporation Commodity Manager:   (Past Employee - 2007)

Pros

Compensation is higher than the norm...t not to mention good benefits, but that's about it. Some of the plant managers are great to work for, and most of your managerial cohorts will be well-qualified people who know what they are doing.

Cons

Toxic political atmosphere at most locations and at Corporate office. Blatant favortism and not forthcoming with hourly employees regarding major changes that are coming up. Extremely high voluntary (and involuntary) turnover in the upper management ranks, especially at the director level or above. Promotions are very much given based on whom one knows instead of what one knows. Probably the scariest part of working here is the almost-daily news that yet another Dana plant is closing, downsizing, or moving to Mexico to "restructure the North American manufacturing footprint", as the "Restructuring Director" so tactfully put it.. Claim they promote diversity within their company, but if you are a minority or female, you can pretty much forget ending up on the Board.

Advice to Senior Management

Stop encouraging a toxic company culture....and wake up to what is going on in the automotive world!
