I worked at Darden full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The only restaurant I've ever worked out, which offered benefits and group discounts.

    Cons

Unrealistic expectations of what guess want and need.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus more on what the guest wants and not what is perceived that they want. Long speeches when you sit down for a meal is more irritating than informative. If people want to know they'll ask.

New company policy makes this a horrible company to work for.

I have been working at Darden part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

It was a good company to work for when they allowed employees to work full time. New policy limits all employees to 25 hours per week so they will not have to provide health insurance. How can a person afford to live in Chicago working only 25 hours per week? How can a person get a second job when Darden requires them to be available for all shifts including weekends and holidays?

    Cons

The tips working here are much less than the majority of other restaurants. This is because you have an hour and a half of side work to do each night after your customers have left. Server minimum wage while not making tips!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Drop the 28 hour maximum rule or hire someone to do all the side work and cleaning so Servers can spend more time waiting on tables and earning tips.
