I have been working at Darden full-time for less than a year

Pros

Organized, well recognized restaurants so you will have a lot of clientele, good benefits and discounts, quality food and drinks, classy and respectable restaurant.

Cons

Poor website for servers to switch shifts, can be very corporate and overly controlling, results driven culture can become stressful,

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make training an on-going process as the detailed menu and drinks are a lot to take in in a week and a half of training. Ask for more feedback from servers to find solutions or at least get ideas to their problems. Most of the time they actually do want to help and provide creative solutions and not just follow orders like mindless drones.

I worked at Darden full-time for less than a year

    Pros

You do have the availability of flexible hours.

    Cons

The interview process was long & unnecessary. Waiting for a simple call back from the managers to schedule your 1st & 2nd interview takes way too long. Once you get hired you will see why everything takes so long- the Managers hide in their office all day or stand around and hang in groups with the "click" employees talking/flirting. Don't expect to ever get a helpful hand...long line of cust waiting to be seated - no help, no glasses washed & stocked in the middle of dinner rush - no help, Our of ice or garnish for drinks - no help, ran out of items on menu - no warning, cooks messing up orders or taking too long - no help, window full of food needing to be ran to tables, guess what?....no help!. All the while they are standing around not doing anything. They are the complete opposite of proactive. If you want something done, get used to doing it yourself. Good luck if your new, because there is no support. The servers are the definition of clicky, its like high school. And if you have a serious problem as in violence/harassment from one of their favorite employees - nothing will be done. And to top it all off, the only time to make any real $ is the summer. For the rest of the year you will be doing doubles just to make ends meet & still only walk away with on average $80 for a 12 hour day. Better off elsewhere.
