I have been working at Dart Container full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Benefits are so so, but starting to lose more.

    Cons

Where to begin? Poor upper management. Double standards, unfair practices, favortism, uneducated, closed minded. And that's their good points. Management does not care in the least about the production staff. The plant may as well run Monday thru Friday, because weekends & ALL nights, staff is on their own. Cannot even reach any management if there is any kind of emergency. E-mails sent asking questions, never answered. Constantly running out of raw materials. Short handed all the time, but since we manage to get our schedule adherences, "Let them be short handed". Employees are exhausted at end of work week. 24/7 plant, no maintenance on nights whatsoever. 5 minute fixes take hours, if they even come in at all to fix something when they are called. excuses made right & left for them. Production can't catch any kind of break. Upper management takes off whenever they see fit. Whether it's a baseball game or a shopping trip! But ask them if you can take off because you don't feel well?? Yeah, right...Favortism runs rampant. Morale at the lowest I've ever seen. Employees trying to figure out a way to contact the "Ethics Hotlone" & still remain anonymous. Don't trust the fact that they say it's anonymous.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Clean out front offices, start over & listen to the ones who are actually doing the jobs & making money for the company.

I worked at Dart Container full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good product lines. Brand recognition. Sizable company. Some potential for movement within the company (but getting less as Solo people fill them). Good health benefits when most companies are tightening budgets. Decent retirement plan.

    Cons

Since the Solo acquisition, it's become hostile and doesn't follow the core culture. People from the acquisition are unnecessarily desperate to save their jobs and manipulate the trusting nature of existing management with ideas or concepts that are not in the best long term interest of the company. Many of these legacy people have an attitude that Dart has money to waste so they push wasteful spending.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You got a decent fire sale of your competitor. Don't dilute your management structure with the people, they are the same culture that pushed their company to bleed the books red.
