I have been working at DeVero full-time (more than a year)

Pros

- Very cool, mostly young people
- Laid-back atmosphere
- Higher than average salaries for particular mid-level job titles
- SV startup culture: jeans and t-shirts, food in the kitchen, beer o'clock on Fridays
- Management generally has good intentions towards employees

Cons

- Family business results in some apparent nepotism
- The management (family) is reluctant to let employees "hold the baby"
- Innovation and experimentation is below average for SV startups
- Very slow rate of progress relative to other SV startups

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to understand that the time has come to let go of some of the control of the company, delegating projects to smaller sub-groups so that teams can work on their own to solve problems and innovate. A lot of people join the company under the pretense that they will be able to innovate and create, only to find that experimentation is almost non-existent.

I have been working at DeVero

    Pros

    1. Laid-back atmosphere. Jeans and t-shirt kind of office, not much micromanagement on my end.
    2. Free snacks and drinks, happy hours on Fridays, pot lucks. Company outings to restaurants and bars, sporting events, etc.
    3. A CEO that genuinely cares about the well-being of the employees.
    4. A great product that employees can believe in.
    5. Benefits are good, not great. 10 paid holidays, 10 days of PTO, and 5 sick days. Blue Shield or Kaiser (employer pays $220 of either gold or silver plan), dental and vision offered. Company-sponsored life insurance. 401k offered, but no matching.

    Cons

    1. As many people have mentioned, many managers are related to the CEO. I imagine it would be difficult to get to VP/executive level, since all of the family are in those roles. What everyone has failed to mention in previous reviews though is that these guys work looong hours and work their butts off.
    2. Office gossip can run rampant, though it's mostly within one department.
    3. As someone mentioned, the turn over rate is high, but mainly in the Customer Success department. I attribute this to the fact that they seem to only hire recent college grads.

Family business, no room for growth

    I worked at DeVero

    Pros

Stepping stone for someone right out of school as you can learn a lot, then move on.

    Cons

Family business, no room for growth. Upper management team is related to the president...and if you have a complaint you can't really do anything about it because they are all related. Very annoying.
