Pros

A great environment to work because it involves a lot of communication and teamwork.

Cons

I have not really found a downside on working at DeVry; however, the work itself can be rather slow.

Advice to Management

Leadership at DeVry is well enough as it is because I have the fortune to work with great supervisors and directors.

    Pros

    -Competitive starting salary
    -Good benefits package/ 401 K
-Enough Cosi and Corner Bakery to last a lifetime
-Once invested, you can take classes towards earning your masters for free..... sort of. Apparently new tax guidelines limit the amount of "free" tuition an individual can receive in a given time period. If you go over the amount ,you will end up paying taxes on the "free" tuition as if it was part of your income for that year. Basically if you want to complete your masters for "free" and avoid any tax ramifications.... your going to be there a long long while!

    Cons

-Don't let the "admission advisor" title fool. The most advising you'll do is telling prospective students how quickly they should start.
-Very little help from management with resolving issues in a timely manner.
-Management is concerned with one and one thing only.... Enrollment!
-Extremely low gradation rates weigh heavily on your morals. Statistically the students you enroll have a very low chance of completing their program.
-Low admission standards allow for students who do not posses the skills nor work ethic needed to be successful in college to take on tremendous amounts of student loan debt and in most cases never compete their degree. Bottom line is tax payers are footing the bill because of poor admissions standards.

    Advice to Management

Unfortunately I don't think there is much management can do. The problem lies within the structure of for profit schools and they are superb at what they do.... make a lot of money. Devry is part of a multibillion dollar industry fueled by federal student loans. If a student doesn't make it (and statistically they wont) then thats OK because Uncle Sam has already lent his helping hand. As long as these money machines can keep a large enough stack of students to burn through and their investors happy, there is little hope for change.

    Pros

Excellent Benefits and a great place to have a first job.

    Cons

    Horrible communication between departments
    Favortism among managers
Horrible Human Resources Director and Staff- they did not even know how to conduct a proper write up and in addition fired many key personal because they had claims that involved research in which they not qualified to do.
Placement of leaders into positions that they are not qualified for but are friends with the hiring manager.
Recognition programs are for internal group members only- if you are "in" then you are fine but for the other 99% it is intolerable.
Inability to recognize talent among leadership.
Status Quo is the norm and if you try to go above and beyond you run the risk of being fired.
If you have ideas for growth an improvement, keep them to yourself because they will stolen from you and/or you will be fired.
Lack of customer service to clients- consistent lies to their clients.

    Advice to Management

Upper management needs to see what a wreck the middle managers are doing to this school. They are one law suit away from having the whole thing tumble down and their employees are just dumb enough to let that happen. Hire HR personal that understand what HR is, how to recruit and how to understand benefits and evaluations. This was so poor that it was unheard of in a company this size. Extremely pitful.
