Pros

The tuition benefit is great, employees are encouraged to take advantage of it There were several initiatives to promote employee financial, physical and emotional well being Good 401k policy If you show initiative, they will invest heavily in you

Cons

Health insurance isn't too great

Advice to Management

Rightsizing should the the last resort. As a sign of goodwill, how about pledging to reduce your salaries until the situation becomes better. This would instill a sense of comradery

    Pros

Great place if you can duck the lay offs.

    Cons

No matter how hard you work, no matter how hard you try, go above and beyond the call of duty, bend over backwards for staff and students - it just doesn't matter.

    Advice to Management

DeVry is operating profitably. Things start to tighten up and you discard your loyal employees like used dixie cups. Then to add further insult to injury, the minuscule severance package you offer negates any possibility of future employment. It equates to being fired.

    Pros

Excellent benefits, great people to work with, lots of options for horizontal movement, plenty of locations to transfer to (Chicago area)

    Cons

Very micromanaged in finance department, constant changes (downsizing, moving to new locations), limited vertical movement, poor training (you rely more on the people who have been here a long time to teach you things than you do from trainers or managers)

    Advice to Management

Provide better service to students by giving proper training to employees. As employees, we feel helpless and embarrassed that we can't offer more help to a student because training is so quick/generic and team leads don't know a lot of the answers. There is also poor communication between key departments, particularly finance and operations, which slows down how fast we can service students.
