    Pros

Work with Top-Notch, High Quality Faculty. On any given campus, Faculty have thousands of years of relevant real-world work experience, unlike schools with pure academics teaching. Students are above average, they work hard, and deserve the great jobs they get after graduation.

    Cons

DeVry is the premiere private sector educator. Others in the market space dilute the segment and give it a bad perception. The truth is that the education at DeVry is as good as the professors that teach there, who are superb and can stack up against any Ivy League school. The problem is that too many outside political powers have targeted private sector colleges to perpetuate the misconception that public schools are better.

    Advice to Management

Give Faculty more autonomy and opportunities to grow. The Faculty are the most mission-critical component of the organization. DeVry could not exist without the highly experienced and talented teachers that work hard to develop our students into highly functional contributors to our workforce.

    Pros

    I work with Great employees/friends.

    Cons

I’ve never been associated with a company with such HORRIBLE upper-level management (president, directors, deans). The president has no trust in the employees and always chooses to hire outside of company for higher level positions. Also, makes sure that everyone’s annual review is coded as “still developing” so no promotions could be asked for or raises given. There are employees who have been here for years and their annual review shows as “still developing”…Really?

The Directors idea of management is applying scare tactics. They want to break you down and make you feel like you’re not good enough. They do this so they could have some type of “control” over you. Nothing positive about your performance comes out of a directors mouth, not even if you’re short of amazing.

There is no job security and are consistent annual layoffs in July. Typically, the ones getting laid off are the ones with a higher salary, so even if you got a promotion, you would eventually be let go. In addition, The company closed down over 40+ locations in the past few month and is not looking good.

Past 2 months at my location:

Just to give you an idea of what’s been going on. We went from 4 directors of admissions to 1, 3 admissions reps were let go, 1 dean has resigned, 3 success coaches resigned all in 1 week, 1 student finance consultant resigned, and the student central manager has resigned also.

    ***PAST 2 MONTHS!

Stay FAR away from this company because other companies do not even respect someone with Devry on their resume (even with attending a top university).

    Advice to Management

Though you may have "control" you have zero loyalty. Employees across the line have nothing positive to say about higher level managers. Treat people with respect and show that you care about their careers.
