I have been working at DeVry University

Pros

Free university accredited education for employees, spouses and their children. Pro-rated vacation. Decent starting pay.

Cons

Hiring of outside management instead of promoting more qualified people who know the company and have been their for years. Not much room for growth in admissions or operation positions. Some of sales goals and quotas for centers and campuses are unattainable.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look within company for qualified personnel.

    Pros

Some convenience can be found in certain positions within the company.

    Cons

Managers discourage internal communications by requiring permission to address others in the company.
Employee creativity discouraged. Management specifically asks employees not to think. They just want them to do exactly as they are told.
There is absolutely no upward mobility at DeVry. If you don't like what you are doing today, good luck. You are going to be doing it for a long, long time unless you leave the company.
They don't share any of the success with their employees. People work to enrich the upper managers. There is no stock participation. There are no options.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management is missing a huge opportunity to give employees a stake in the success of the company. The company would do even better if it shared its success with its employees.
