    Pros

Great starting pay and peers are awesome to work with.

    Cons

Sooooo much red tape that it is soooooo boring to work there. You wait and wait and wait for multiple levels of senior management to ok something small just so that you can move on to something else that requires them to ok again. Even with multiple projects, it still gets boring and irritating. I started off with lots of fervour when I joined as a fresh grad but within 6 mths things got so ridiculously slow no matter how hard to try to speed it up. Oh and in this place, mistakes are always pointed out and gratitude for a job well done is hardly ever given. Might be cos we work for the military?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't have silly department name changes. Reduce red tape and kick out the incompetent lower and middle management.

I worked at Defence Science & Technology Agency

    Pros

good worklife balance - got time to pursue your further degree.
nice colleagues to work with. mostly young grads
encourage personal growth - employees are encouraged to pursue further degree.
    stable job

    Cons

always restructuring - n your risks remain that one day, the restructuring does not fit your career aspiration, and when you want out, you realise that your skills are specialised that it is not easy to switch to another company.
most management still have the old management school of thoughts - expect you to remain loyal to your entity, even when you express your desire to go for a management career path and want to seek out jobs in other division(even though they may have an internal job portal for internal transfer).
job is stable, but if you are talented, why are you so concerned about stability?
    - red tape - processes to follow to ensure accountability and governance, and sometimes, when your projects are progressing slowly, you lose your drive along the way.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

discard that old school of management, and know what the gen Y desires. High starting pay and job stability are no longer the priority to the new gens. This is unlike the old gens where such traits may be desirable when the country was starting out young.
