    I worked at Dell

    Pros

You can learn about sales operations and inside sales management. Being at Dell shows you what "tough" business is all about.

    Cons

Most of the time, it's "toughness without a reason". The company worships wall street target beyond all reasons and sometimes - due to the minute-to-minute visibility of sales reports from Dell's direct sales structure - that can create huge pressure especially around quarter ends. Dell isn't a company that has the time to stop and think about things about people, recognition or faireness.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give Wall Street a break and think about your strategy and customers.

Dell, a good place to learn and work, but not a lean organization

I have been working at Dell

    Pros

Great Team. Good growing opportunities specialy for entry level sales and call center positions. Great place to learn and work.

    Cons

Far from the city. Not much networking going around. Dell tends to hire people that are very well prepared and experienced but then puts them into positions with no enough challenge in regards to their experience. Internal IT basically only offers supports for applications, very little drive in improving aging systems

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve assigment of responsabilities and accountability (there is no accountability in certain aspects of the business). Improve facilities, from carpets to cafeteria, the work enviroment is very lacking, just being outside the city is complicated. Confussing organization with too many overlapping and areas and functions.
