I have been working at Dell full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I've only been here a couple years, but overall things have been good. I've been happy with my salary, location, and colleagues

    Cons

The IT industry is going through a rough patch right now, there are constant organizational changes, and only very senior people can become people managers

    Recommends
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

This company is headed for disaster....just take a look at their bipolar acquisition/layoff "strategy"

I have been working at Dell full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Brand Name - That's it....but the equity there is falling sharply.

    Cons

Management is reactive. No people strategy. People are considered expendable. Accounting / Finance functions are corrupt. Company keeps pet businesses that are Michael's little screw-ups running just so they don't have to report Michael's bad business decisions in acquiring a family owned company....etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on integration of what you acquire. Focus on updating all systems. SaaS businesses and the computer "box" business require different billing systems, etc. Take note that even all SaaS businesses even require different systems. There isn't any "one-size-fits-all" solution for all the systems needs. The company's focus to try and produce one is futile. Trials to do so have lasted infinitely longer than that which a reasonable investor would find reasonable.
