I worked at Dell full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Dell took very good care of me during 16 years of employment. I was able to get my bachelors, an MBA, and tons of work experience. The benefits are great!

Cons

There is a lot of red-tape at Dell. Also, as with most large corporations, you never know if your job is safe from month to month. Hard to commit to a company that has a hard time commiting to you.
The culture was great in the beginning, but it has gone down hill. Everyone is worried more about their job than patting someone else on the back. Do a good job, then do another good job or you're out!

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give your employees more faith. Also, quit trying to do everything. Narrow your core business.

I have been working at Dell full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Exposure to latest technology. Emphasis on training. Salaries tend to be higher than industry.

    Cons

A lot of overtime work. It's difficult to balance work-life.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop burdening the people left behind after a reduction in force. If the workforce needs to be reduced, reduce the work load as well.

I have been working at Dell full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

With the right manager, you'll be given opportunities to learn and grow
Plenty of opportunity to establish processes and automation
Annual bonuses can add up to a lot (in a good year)

    Cons

Review process suffers from the same problem as in most big organizations: stack ranking (or forced distribution)
    Salary increases are miniscule

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too many managers (project, program, product, marketing), not enough doers.
