Pros

The benefit plan is really good. You get about 6 weeks of vacation right off the bat, which is great. This is also a good resume builder.

Cons

VERY stressful environment. Even if you hit your goal, there is always something you need to work on. They make it very tough to hit goals as well as get all of the bonuses that are available. As soon as you consistently find a way to hit the goals, they change the rules of the game to make it more difficult. There is almost no job security because if you have a bad quarter, they have no problem ushering you out of the door regardless of past performance. Dell is pretty much a revolving door with high turnover. They have no problems laying off massive amounts of skilled trained employees only to hire folks off the street with not experience. However, several employees come back anyway because of the benefits and possibility of success the second or third time around.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pour more resources into the employees you have instead of spending so much on training unexperienced new hires. Listen to the reps and make goals more realistic instead of basing them off of the stock market.

    Pros

If you're willing to fight your way to the top and take on super-challenging projects, you'll get the rewards. I love challenges so I really liked my job.

    Cons

Some favoritism exists. Be prepared to network like crazy and toot your own horn - hard to get rewards and promotions if you're not visible to top management.

  2. Solid company, but they pay below industry standards.

    Pros

    Solid company, good health benefits.

    Cons

They did not pay commissions company-wide for a period of time due to "system problems".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start caring about your employees. They work hard with little reward.
