    I have been working at Dell full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Smart People and aggressive marketing and brand focus. Dynamic environment allowing significant movement and opportunity to work different areas. Encourages a very social environment and multiple venues to be heard.

    Cons

    Immature software organization. Marketing & Procurement drives too many of the initiatives / ideas (versus Engineering). Large company - easy to feel lost or like you're not making an impact. The company seems a tad ADD (Attn Deficit) and doesn't seem to commit to a long-term cohesive product strategy outside of counting cost $$$ or profit $$$

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Increase the software-related budget and resources (4x -5x). Commit way more money into R&D in both consumer and commercial divisions. Encourage non-marketing types to drive more initiatives. Take more chances in consumer space.

    Pros

    Green facility, benefits are strong.

    Cons

    Lacks unity. Communication is almost laughable. Angry, impatient, environment with more backstabbing per capita than any workplace I have ever experienced.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    This is an average paying job. What that means to you? People WILL seek other employment of equal pay, if work environment is threatening. In other words, YOU are responsible for the outrageous turnover .
