Former Employee - Good Place to Work When Times Are Good
Former Employee - Good Place to Work When Times Are Good

I worked at Dell

Pros

friendly, relaxed environment with lots of personal development opportunities. Also, the social side of things are good. Gym, leisure centre, social club. All good.

Cons

little time from management. No praise or encouragement. If times are bad the hard working guys are first to lose out.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

be more supportive. You are in those positions because of your supposed experience so offer support and advice rather than the usual work harder or leave if you dont want to be here speech.

    I worked at Dell

    Pros

Good line of Servers, Desktop and Laptops

    Cons

Being the Hardware Company, Dell actually does not know anything about Software Development, its phases and Involvement of every entity to contribute to release. Shame, Dell India R&D call themselves Software R&D center. more than 50% of Engineers are freshly picked out from third grade engineering institute and most of them are stuck with who are not quite competetant to do quality job outside the DELL INDIA. So result is A BAG FULL OF BS Loads.

On Software Development side, there is no deep understanding of how product should be released and what are factors to be quallified as RISK Factors. Senior Management just worry about the timeline withouth even trying to know the complexity involved in. Most of Senior Managers have their own agenda and no one come to an conclusion and the result is escalation..not just escalation but the threatning.... I think it's high time for Michael Dell to think that if it is good time to invest in Senior Management in India.

Working Environment Sucks.. They treat engineers as slogging bull. In 2 years of time, I just found 2-3 rewards given to those engineers who are close to their managers. No Flexibility, No work life balance. I just feel bad for those engineers. I would recommend that who is really serious about their career, Please Do Not even think about Joining Dell.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The entire Senior Management need to revamped since most of them are like Politician.
Need to tie up with Worlds renowned Business Schools to understand more about Management, Process alike..

    I worked at Dell

    Pros

Dell has many great people at various levels within the company. Almost everyone wants to make great products and satisfy customers.

    Cons

There are too many politicians running the company. They have great political skills but lack leadership. As a result the company has continued to "re-org" itself into a corner.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to and promote the people in the trenches and get rid of the career politicians.
