I worked at Dell full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Great efficiencies at manufacturing marketing, and sales.

Cons

Promoted executives that do not understand relationship sales, and the value of employee relationships with customers, nor the value and effective use of quota based compensation plans.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look to the success and the model that was in place prior to 2000 and work to emulate that. That was the business model that drove huge market share gains and allowed retention of the best talent.

I have been working at Dell full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Decent salaries, allowed to work remote, Michael and leadership are making the right decisions to win long term. As big companies go, Dell is probably about the norm. There is a lot of work to be done.

    Cons

Layoffs always seem to be looming, remote status is allowed but it will bite you if you trying to move to a new role. There's a LOT of stuff going on...acquisitions, new directions, etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

6 managers in 24 months? We can't get projects done due to people moving around. There is no continuity with leaders and staff.
