Pros

Learn a huge amount, given great degree of freedom to find your own solutions and drive for results. There are so many different technical solutions n the company portfolio and different routes to market that you can move around the organisation and get new experiences. The work environment is high energy, results focussed and fast paced. Its quite exciting at times and stimulates innovation.

Cons

Painful amount of politics & playing the game. At times the internal competition is ferocious as colleagues seek to promote themselves. Workloads are not managed effectively - you are set goals and often the 'how to' is not clear resulting in a totally unmanageable workload. There is an overdependence on email which can lead to hundreds of mails that could take over your schedule.

Advice to Management

Reduce the number of KPI metrics and frequency of reporting. Simplify the sales function

    Pros

    Dell pay more than others.

    Cons

No work life balance: they make you work a lot in and outside the company. Legacy apps: a lot of old stuff running. Hard times to shut down old systems. Recognition: no recognition for deliverables/milestones. Low (or no) budget: no money for hardware refresh. No joke. Bureaucracy: a bunch of approvals for changing a piece of code that people don't even know what is it for. Lack of focus on managers: speed up your promotion if you don't work with your team. Promotion: yes if you have good contacts even you work.

    Advice to Management

New technology, younger people for upper management.
