I have been working at Dell full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Great people, talented and smart

    Cons

Company going through some major uncertainties due to privatization. Customers may be wary of doing business with such a firm. Remains to be seen how we get out of it.

I worked at Dell full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Career advancement opportunities, telecommuting opportunities, vacation time, benefits

    Cons

Constant threat of workforce reductions. Review process fosters animosity among teammates. They talk a big game when it comes to work-life balance, but I wasn't aware of anyone putting in less than 60 hours a week. You may get a lot of vacation time, but you'll be logging in frequently to put out fires during that time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Review "calibration" process needs a complete overhaul. Stack ranking is not a good way to encourage teamwork. Middle management should focus more on understanding what their employees do than worrying about internal audits that produce little to no helpful results.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO
