Pros

Huge opportunities in front Dell

Cons

But, no environment to take differentiated thinking to next level.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

You have very few rare thinkers in the company. Through this restructuring process, you are loosing those few as well. You may want put extra gates in identifying whom you want to keep and whom you want to let go. Your current model is just "open flood gates" for both hiring/firing. Very hard to hire right talent, last thing you want to do is loose those great ones.

    Pros

    Good Benefits
    Good work/life balance
Good pay if you started when the company wasn't loosing money

    Cons

Managers are pawns of upper management and little more than spreadsheet junkies that couldn't tell you the strengths & weaknesses of the members of their teams if forced to.
    Highly metric driven
Success depends on the account set that you are given

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go one day without looking at a spreadsheet and spend that time being a real manager

    Pros

Seeing new technology as it comes out.

    Cons

    No loyalty to workers.
Pay has decreased for workers over the last 5 years. If you are in sales, expect unattainable quotas that are very hard to hit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to have a better pay structure for the employees. Make Dell a fun place to work again.
Michael Dell needs to have employees invested in the company with some kind of ownership in the company. The employees need to have a vested interested in the company that is not just to have a job.
