I have been working at Dell full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Determined business leaders, multiple new acquisitions, solid career opportunities

Cons

Career paths are not well defined, quota assignment makes no sense, Sales Comp Plan changes regularly

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit changing the comp plan and make it simple to understand and track on a regular basis.

I have been working at Dell full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good brand recognition, good products, good learning opportunity, flexible work from home, good pay and benefits (but bad health insurance)

    Cons

People are too worried about how to make themselves safe before the next layoff, not how they can grow in their careers by doing the right thing for our customer.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Constant reorgs and layoffs over the last several years have eroded confidence and make it seem like leadership has no vision or strategy for how to get there. Its just a good ole boy network with people fighting to make sure they aren't the low man on the totem pole. Way too political instead of putting focus on customers and teams.

I worked at Dell full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Decent overall pay and benefits

    Cons

After the company I worked for was acquired I went from minimal travel to almost 80% travel overnight even though I specifically stated that I was not able to travel extensively when I hired on.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember that your employees have a life outside of work.
