I have been working at Dell full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Competitive pay, flexible work hours. Culture improving since privatization.

Cons

Culture comes from middle management down, so it's hit or miss depending on what segment you work in. Above that it seems like VPs either don't communicate or don't agree with each other (a result of a cost-cutting environment.)

I worked at Dell full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Could change positions regularly, allowed to work from home, good benefits. Great people.

    Cons

Constantly changing priorities, "long term" initiatives dropped as soon as close rate or revenue for the quarter drop. Archaic IT infrastructure a patchwork of segment specific systems not designed to work with each other.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend the capital necessary to fully upgrade the order management and supporting systems and bring them into the 21st century. Have a single, cohesive go-to-market strategy that includes all segments and offline sales. You are competing against yourself.
