- Varied experiences with different verticals of the industry and also different technology platforms
- Mentors that can help you grow in the firm by sharing their experiences

Cons

- Too much of travel
- No work life balance
- Increased emphasis on getting certifications, however no time to prepare for any

Advice to ManagementAdvice

- Invest time in talent, by training them for current market offerings on skill sets
- Reward loyalty to the firm

    Flexibility, friendly people, opportunities to take on a lot of responsibility early on, top client base

    Salary, low bonus, constrained by unrealistic budgets on engagements

    It's okay...not as great as they advertise

    I have been working at Deloitte full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    - some people are truly nice and easy to get along with
    - when you become senior manager, you can really have flexibility in your work life balance (IF you get the right Partners to work with)
    - vacation time is good and not that strictly monitored
    - if you are on the right project, you will have fun (team events like broadway shows; lots of dinners at fancy places)
    - some projects are really interesting
    - the longer you stay and perform well, the more they look after and protect you

    Cons

    - some partners are very unpleasant to work with. wrong partner equals miserable career. the way the company is set up, you may be stuck working with a partner you dont like (i.e. same industry). so you either leave the company or brace yourself for horrible career
    - performance management is very subjective. favoritism goes a long way. some people get promoted in 1 year and others in 5 yrs. rationale is not clear. what is clear is the special favors
    - too much work and pay is not that competitive. there is this thing called PRD which is EXTRA WORK outside your client work. so this takes up people's nights and weekends doing all these odd things of little value. Plus you are heavily weighted on this in performance reviews. very unfair. pay is not greatest in the industry
    - like any consutling firm, during bad times, layoffs are deep

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Eliminate PRD. It is killing people and costing us in terms of loss of top talent. PRD should be a non-topic in performance reviews. if it wasnt so tied to performance, people will actually enjoy what they do. Also hire people internally to do stuff like eminence and other things that practitioners spend so much time working on.
