Pros

Enjoyed and learning from working with high-talent colleagues.

Cons

Too much value placed on client-facing staff and not enough focus on recognizing and rewarding those behind the scenes; for example their technology talent pool.

Advice to Management

Don't chase short-term financial gains for longer-term company reputation.

    I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good pay and benefits. Lots of opportunity to grow at Consultant and Senior Consultant levels. Some flexibility if you need to work from home. Interesting projects if you get on the right one. For the most part, smart people work here. If you know how to network, you will do well. Deloitte University is excellent.

    Cons

    You are penalized for taking vacations, as it affects utilization goals. Review process is not effective, as a bunch of people who don't know you judge you based on a quick conversation. If you work on a Federal project, client feedback is not taken into consideration. Little work life balance. Company doesn't seem to care about their clients, but does care about their money.

    Advice to Management

    Stop placing so much emphasis on firm contributions. Some of us have kids and don't make enough money to hire a nanny to stay after work for meetings. For Federal projects, incorporate client feedback into review process. Stop hiring people to the bench, then expect them to get themselves staffed on a project. Need a better screening process for potential firm candidates - you bring in some duds. Tell PPDs and Senior Managers to respond to all emails. Need better training for those of us at the manager level.
