Pros

Respect and recognition that people are the most important part of the business. Commitment of the company towards the development of the people.

Cons

Inconsistency of the promotions and salary policy between functional groups AND within functional group. Designation of "Favorites" and arbitrary nature of partner promotions. A nebulous category exists "partner" material that is undefined. People with similar metrics would have different treatment. This exists even at certain lower levels. Even though I love working here I know first hand of several people for whom this was a reason for departure.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get some consistency in the promotions and salary policy at least within the functional group. The focus is around the best place for someone to start a career, its time to develop a "lifer" mentality

    Pros

    Career development - you work a ton of hours but learn at such a rapid rate. It is an opportunity in your first year out of college to meet with and discuss accounting treatment with executives from Fortune 500 companies. Your market value increases exponentially year after year and when you decide to leave or even do a market check, you are a highly valued commodity due to this experience.

    Cons

    All work and no life. It is an extremely political environment - especially the compensation reviews. A lot of very talented people are turned off to the annual review process whereby managers and partners get together and decide your raise sometimes completely disregarding your feedback from assignments. If you go out and drink with the right people, kiss the right butts, and work for a manager that is "in" with the partners you can easily get a better rating then someone who works much harder with a manager that is not as popular.

    Develop a more subjective way of rating and promoting employees.

    Vacation (20-28 days/year), benefits (has them all and good quality) medical, dental, 10-12 holidays/yr, 401K, pension, purchase discounts, life insurance, disability (short and long), high base salary (25% higher than most other consulting companies), annually paid bonus depending on individual and firm performance, standard travel is 3-4-5 (3nights away from home, 4 days, 5th day in office), very supportive o

    Cons

    very political, must promote self, must travel if required, must participate in firm events and community service to get ahead, very focused on eminence building and innovation, average 60 hrs/week, excellent client service will only get you an "average" year end rating.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    evaluate people more broadly. Too focused on metrics and must review circumstances.
