I have been working at Deloitte full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Some good and talented people.

Cons

No work-life balance.
Proposed pricing and actual sold pricing differs many times. Sold work ends up being staffed with lower skilled personnel leaving middle management to spend lots of hours (without billing the client) to deliver the project.
Lots of politics - PPDs always looking for the next blue eyed resource to pull through the wringer
Most PPDs are divorced, sleeping around at conferences or at trainings at Deloitte University

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go back to the days when management invested in PEOPLE. Happy employees will lead to a happy firm and happy clients. Be more organized and price/estimate projects without looking at just the sale.

I worked at Deloitte full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Salaries are very high and consultants make a killing. Everything the firms do is done top-notch - catered dinners (with uniformed waiters); flat-screen jumbo TVs in the lunchrooms (on every floor); travel to awesome places for conferences, with lots of after-hours planned fun.

    Cons

The firms will take over your life. Expectation of 7-day work weeks, conference calls on Sunday a norm (and they last for hours), mandatory to check email at least once an evening (and you will get 100+ emails a day) and daily over the weekend and holidays; "Crackberry" syndrome is the minimum. If you are not married with a stay-at-home spouse, or single with zero outside obligations, you will be seen as incapable of making the grade. I know two women who had to discuss the choice to have a baby with their bosses - in one case the woman had to give up the chance to make partner.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

instill better values in your employees

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Very well organized, very intelligent coworkers, numerous training opportunities. Fair compensation.
Associate track option for people who want a good work/life balance and to be judged strictly on client contributions.
Strong business model. Deloitte invests a lot in attracting talented people and makes an effort to retain them. If your project ends and you are a solid contributor, the firm will find a way to keep you on staff.

    Cons

Some bureaucracy (for example, if you are on a long-term engagement, it's silly to have to report on your assignment availability every single week).
Not enough firm events based out of the McLean office, which limits participation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change the compensation model back to the way it was- salary increases are more rewarding and fulfilling than bonuses.
