Pros

The acquired knowledge from on the job experience is priceless. There are few jobs that develop a sense of autonomy, critical thinking, and problem solving, as an exposure to the overall audit process. It also provides a unique chance to interact with businesses and industry leaders. Networking opportunities abound.

Cons

While there are programs in place at the national level to encourage a good work life balance, it is difficult to always maintain a good perspective because of the nature of the work. "Busy Season" (October - March/April) is not conducive to a healthy personal life because of work expectations and demands.

Advice to Management

A good work/life balance needs to be continually emphasized in order to ensure retention of the best and brightest within Deloitte.

    Pros

    Working here just opens the door to an endless list of companies. The name on the resume will get you at least an interview with the largest companies in the world. Staying here over the long haul would outweigh the lower compensation you would receive in the middle years. It's like college and work in one. Most of the people are very intelligent. There are so many different programs and trainings available..Working abroad programs, fellowships, etc.

    Cons

    Pay's not as great as industry..work can be intense at times with a lot of grueling hours.

    Advice to Management

    Overtime and bonus' should be considered to keep employees.

    Pros

    Flexibility in where you can live and a good set of benefits and reimbursements. If you like variety in where you work and what you work on, this is a good place to work.

    Cons

    Very, very poor mid-level management communication. Many Partners actively try not to work. It is almost a badge of honor for mid-level Partners to do nothing but go to meetings and review proposals. I observed very little support between Partners in seperate business lines and a few instances of open hostility. It often seemed like a shared business lead workshop with very little follow through and a lot of in-fighting.

    Advice to Management

    Give real bonuses and you will retain top talent. As it is, anyone that is in a non-accounting role leaves as soon as possible because they can always get paid more in the "real" world.
