Great Company, but don't be naïve.

Pros

The people are intelligent, and you will learn a great deal in a very short amount of time. A wild ride that is quite enjoyable. Large company with awesome resources. Excellent to have on your resume.

Cons

You have to always cover your own behind, because that is top priority for everyone else. If its you or them, lets just say its going to be you.

    Pros

Interesting work and lots of opportunities. The firm is doing well and continues to grow. There are many smart people, but also some that will cause you to question the firm's hiring practices. Leadership is a hit or miss, you'll have great leaders to work with sometimes, but also horrible ones at other times.

    Cons

You're performance rating is dependent on not just client service and work but also on your extra curriculars -- which adds up to no life, since the hours that you need to put into all of this is ridiculous. If you stay within the firm, your raises are small and the new hires that come in at your level will likely start at a higher salary point than you and it'll remain that way for a very long time. Talent (HR) does not contribute to your career growth or development, and many times don't provide accurate or helpful advice. Networking is a huge thing in this firm and if you're not good at it, you will not make it far.

    Advice to Management

Reassess compensation policies for those that stay in the firm and reward performance and loyalty (vs new hires coming in at the same level). If you truly care about keeping your top performing talent, there needs to be a visible shift towards incremently increasing current employees' salaries and not saying it'll 'even out over time' for high performers. Talent needs to be transparent about what it takes to get a high rating and the year end process cannot remain subjective, and dependent on how much your counselor may (or may not) fight for you. There needs to be a less subjective process for identifying high performers, and reduce the focus on 'extra curriculars/firm actvities' that ultimately drain your employees and push them out of the firm.

Work/Life balance still a major challenge at Deloitte.

    Pros

Benefits, Light on Bureaucracy, flat/matrix organization, progressive approach to consulting.

    Cons

High pressure to support client and contribute significantly to proposals. Internal expectations constantly infringe on nights and weekends.

    Advice to Management

Need to build dedicated proposal teams to release pressure from team.
