Delphi – “Really... Chapter 11 for four years? Seriously?”
Pros
Interesting projects and numerous opportunities for travel abroad, depending on the product line you are involved with. Challenging assignments where your knowledge and skills will be heavily relied on to get the job done, due to many recent extreme reductions in headcount.
Cons
Ongoing trouble in the auto industry, gradual erosion of benefits, and bleak outlook for long term corporate survival. The company has not emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy after four long years. Poor channels of communication with peers, managers, and customers. Decisions are regularly made by a large group consensus, and the majority rarely agree. Very low sense of job security due to volitility in the industry and large movement of manufacturing from North America to overseas.
Advice to Senior Management
Complete the restructuring now and emerge from bankruptcy to provide stakeholder confidence and restore a positive direction for the future of the company.
