I have been working at Denver Water

    Pros

Decent working environment, supportive of continuing education, people are generally nice and good to work with.

    Cons

Limited opportunities for advancement, many long-term employees (20 -30 years +) creates a "good old boy" network that you can't really break into. This leads to some favoritism in job placement, tolerating incompetence, etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You are on the right track in terms of trying to change how IT functions, but there is a lot of inertia for the old ways hanging around. If you don't keep a close eye on this, your brightest employees will leave you.

  2. Denver Water is a place that has many positions but limited opportunity for employees to grow

I have been working at Denver Water

    Pros

It is an organization that provides good work life balance, has a pension plan, and is small enough that you get to work with people at all levels of the organization

    Cons

Denver water makes it hard for employees to grow within the company because it is more about who you know and less about what you know. Also we are very top heavy within the organization that most decisions made are at the benefit of management

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your employees are the experts and even though you say we are, the decisions you make prove otherwise

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
