Director Revenue Cycle-Managed Care

Director Revenue Cycle (Former Employee)
Detroit, MI

ProsStrong revenue cycle team and mid-level management team with average tenure of over 14 years. Successfully redefined expectations for two major divisions that had preconceived determination of failure based upon poor outcomes from predecessor.

Made a strong contribution and provided leadership as member of Technology Committee resulting in adoption of my recommendations of PM/EMR vendor ultimately selected. Additionally, was asked by leadership to provide guidance, development of implementation strategies for working group.

Through redevelopment of organizational processes, structure, processes that produced drastic reduction in percentage of A/R outstanding, achieved buy-in and support from Coding Department resulting in improving working relationship that produced improved delivery days for charges.

Through my oversight role of the third party billing company contracted with the group, improved efficiencies, standardization of revenue generation, enhancement of solutions and delivery of stronger data for strategic analysis. Through this oversight, influenced billing company to adhere to reach and meet MGMA top 10% industry standards for productivity, error rate percentage, Days in A/.R.

ConsDiverse set and scope of challenges, ranging from maneuvering through multiple organizational structural entrenchments to obtaining the level of support from counterparts within the hospital system via atypical silo mentality

Advice to Senior ManagementMy advice to management would be retrospectively 1) Not negotiate and enter into a billing contingency agreement that was 30% higher than industry standards for similar services. 2) Increase budgeting for increased investment into IT/.PM enhancements. 3) Shift focus from having total gross charges as a main monthly benchmark and be more focused on the actual net revenue collection figures. 4) When decision was made to eliminate revenue cycle division, presentation was not done in a professional manner (manager read with head down from a piece of paper), with immediately leaving the room after stating every job in the division was being eliminated without allowing 26 ftes to pose any questions. 5) Would have recommended to leadership not to allocate separation responsibility after only being on board for 10 days, which resulted in a result of a very sterile, non-caring attitude. 6) If an entire division is to be eliminated, not to make it that In order to qualify for any severance that every fte would have to be at work for the next two week.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
