Optimal Culture, Environment at a Fortune 500 Brand

I have been working at Dick's Sporting Goods full-time for more than a year

Pros

Great work-life balance. Positive company culture. High growth in certain areas of the company. Management allows for a lot of autonomy. Some interesting projects to be involved with. Beautiful facilities. Some flexibility available--you can sometimes work from home, use the gym on lunch breaks, no limit on sick days.

Cons

Work can sometimes be monotonous (probably true anywhere). Some areas of the company can be territorial about work/projects, which isn't conducive to quality work.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ensure highers have proper skill set.

I have been working at Dick's Sporting Goods part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Ability to purchase the best athletic wear with a pretty good associate's discount for a part-time worker. Flexible scheduling as well.

    Cons

The fact that the store doesn't really follow the "customer is always right" rule is hurting the business.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management needs to be more aware of what the customer wants as well as what they don't want. Also the forcing of the store card on the customers really annoys the customer. If the customers want to sign up for the scorecard, they will. It shouldn't need to be forced after asking one time.
