Pros

Good product, colleagues at same level lovely, international, fab rapport with sales team, a couple of good directors (when they are interested).

Cons

Very poor salaries but directors still get good bonuses, no opportunities for advancement, lots of power politics and double standards. Wrong people get promoted. Those who should don't.

Advice to Management

Listen to everyone, not just who you think you should - who is to say that person is telling the truth. Remember your staff are your principal asset. Look after them and question why you have such a high staff turnover. Think about alternative ways of staff motivation - read Herzberg!

    Pros

Very good Life/Work balance with good opportunity for growth. Stable company with good financial performance and a strong brand presence.

    Cons

Office culture can be brutal with strong inter-departmental political battles. Brand strategy is constantly evolving and changing, leading to inconsistencies.

    Pros

Work/Life balance decent. Benefits are ok. Most coworkers are great people. Got me great experience in the industry.

    Cons

The upper management is completely incompetent. They have absolutely no direction for the company. It's being run almost like a start up company. Top brass yells, then trickles down by VP to the reps. Most of the VP's have no clue what they're doing. They have never been or it's been a long time, since they were in the field. They only care about how Walmart is doing, and all promos/marketing is geared towards mass merchants. Haven't seen an advertisement in over 5 years, but yet they keep adding marketing people. Lack of leadership all across the board. Compensation is a joke. A plan implemented 5 years ago from the mind of HR, whom has never been in sales. Commissions/bonus's (or lack of) are capped. You actually have to hold orders/shipments for the next month, so you don't ship to much in the previous. Isn't the point of business and sales to distribute as much as possible? Not at Dickies. You're only a #. The only people that care about you are your co workers, no one above your pay. OH, also not everyone is paid the same at the same position. New hires are getting more salary then some can make with salary + commissions. Once again, a JOKE!

    Advice to Management

Get some leadership!! The regional VP's are about the only reason Dickies are doing anything. Get rid of the horrible comp plan. Why would you take the advice from HR to pay salesmen? FYI, there are no field reps that aren't looking for a new job!! When you have a chance to step on the throat of your #1 competitor, DO IT! Don't hold off on production, bring more in and bury them. Another example of leaders not thinking. They only look at #'s. Promote from within, not the buddies of the VP's.
