Still a good place to develop a career

I have been working at Diebold

Pros

Low amount of management structure. Easy to escalate problems or opportunities. Good culture of putting customer satisfaction first. Another good reason is the ability to work in a matrixed organization. This really makes team work function efficiently. It gives the normal working stiff a chance to experience the leadership issues of product development and deployment. That in turn develops that individual for more responsibility if management is your goal. Recently extensive efforts have been made to develop some internal training programs that if you take advantage of them also enhance your net worth with no cost.

Cons

A former USA company still struggling with going global. Many of the staff will drop everything for a US customer when global ones are more important

I have been working at Diebold

    Pros

Management's open door policies, good co-workers. Diebold is a global company and is an industry leader in in the financial self-service business. Good opportunities for training and continued education are provided by the company.

    Cons

Limited career growth opportunities, uncertainty about future of the company. Too many changes are going on in the company. The associates support change but are not sure that management will be able to deliver. Salaries are not geared towards attracting top talent. Management is not very good with progressive work policies like flex-time, working from home, etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There needs to be a sharp focus on growing revenues. Accelerate the implementation of the chosen ERP system - Oracle so that efficiency can be improved and duplicate work can be eliminated. Software always seems to be a roadblock for new product introductions and needs better management support.

I have been working at Diebold

    Pros

Good colleagues. Most managers are OK. Good place to be during the good times. Used to be a fairly laid back, casual work environment, although that is changing (not in a good way).

    Cons

Not a great place to be during the bad times. Slowly, but surely, the management is eating away at US based associates compensation and benefits. There is a sense that the company is on a cusp, and that it will either grow and succeed, or fall into a death spiral of layoffs and cost cutting. No one knows if senior management is going to be able to tip the company into growth, which leads to a lot of anxiety.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too many managers, not enough leaders. Divest the elections systems business. It's giving the company a bad name.
