Pros

Benefits are great. Health insurance is FREE if you are single. If not single, it's less than $100 a month for FULL coverage. No limits, no nothing. The only thing you pay for is $7 co-pay on prescriptions. Anything else is basically free. Heart surgery, cancer treatment, or a simple sinus infection... free. The majority of the people employed at Digi-Key are there solely for the health insurance.

They have large lunch/break rooms. Breakrooms have microwaves, ice machines, attendants that clean the breakrooms. Lots of Pepsi/Coke machines and snack machines (that you pay for).

There is a caterer on-site during lunch time (but they are VERY expensive!). Pizza Hut and a local cafe also serve food at a reasonable price on-site.

Casual attire. You can basically wear whatever you want as long as it isn't 'reveling' or offensive, or in support of competition.

Cons

You are just a number. Doesn't matter what you do or how well you do it, you'll constantly be hounded. Good luck being promoted from within. This is a large company that employs small town people. Everyone knows everyone. If you want another job in another department, you'd better know someone there or you aren't going to even get an interview.
You'll get in trouble for being a minute early or a minute late. Better make sure your watch is on track!
Unless you work in the warehouse (which is an entirely different (terrible) world) you'll sit at a desk all day. When you're first hired, they highly promote the fact that you can get up and take a bathroom break or walk off a difficult call if you need to. That's not the case.
Again, depending on what manager you work for, your email and phone calls are monitored. This is typical with every company, but Digi-Key has no real policy regarding it. It just depends on what manager you work under.
Time off is a joke. You're given paid, unpaid and personal time to use. But it's available for use at the company's discretion. The majority of the time, you're not allowed to use it. You need to make sure your name is in the "time off book" weeks, even months in advance or you can't leave. Doesn't matter if you have a sick kid that you have to pick up or if you're coughing up blood, if your name isn't in the "book" you're expected to stay.

Ron Stordahl used to be leading the company and it was an excellent place to work. He has since handed over the reigns to others and the place has gone downhill since. People get paid different wages dependent on their manager. Some managers fight for high pay, others don't. So that leads to some getting paid big bucks to do seemingly nothing and others are paid less to do a lot more work. Just depends on what kind of backbone your manager has.
The place is getting VERY top heavy recently. They have a vice-president for nearly everything. They're just short of vice president of the bathrooms. They pay out big bucks for these people that seemingly do nothing. Digi-Key pays a lot of airfare for these people to fly home since nobody will live in this area on their own will.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

This place used to run like a well oiled machine. Whomever has taken over needs to realize they're losing people faster than they think. You're operating a large business in a small area. It's only a matter of time before you've burned through the available employees in the area. People are leaving left and right and they can't be providing good word to others in the area. I've heard more bad words about the place than I have good.

    Pros

Good pay for the area and good benifits. They almost always are looking for workers and they have a great lunch room in the building.

    Cons

They monitor you every minute. Good bad or ugly, you all get paid the same. Don't get sick. Learn to eat fast because they only give you 30 min for lunch and it starts the second you leave your computer. They keep track of every time you are 1 min or more late. Still in the dark ages about how they treat part-time employees. If it wasn’t for the benefits the only employees they would have would be upper management!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have a back bone and stick up for your employees instead of selling them down the river.
