I worked at Dignity Health full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Benefits are great. Ability to work from home.

Cons

Very strong "In" crowd. If you're not In, you might as will leave. Severe back stabbing. Management guided by rumors, not results. Management very unprofessional, no direction, changing priorities. Top level officers constantly changing the plan. Top concerns are saving money and following processes. Patient care and safety, and Provider satisfaction take a back door. Sum it up by a quote from a senior consultant: "I would NEVER want to be a patient of Dignity Health". I would never want to be an employee of Dignity Health.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Time to clean out and hire productive professional managers, not rumor mongers. CEO is great, but everyone between him and the folks in the street ought to be dumped.

I have been working at Dignity Health full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Pay is good. Telecommuting policy is very liberal.

    Cons

Highly dysfunctional IT. No alignment between IT and business whatsoever. IT constantly looking for ways to deflect future blame on the part of the business. Pointless processes. Horrible communication. IT Management layer, CIO and directs is virtually invisible to the rank and file. More time spent working around admnistrative processes that hamstring the organization than getting actual productive work done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Replace CIO and her reports. Get some professional help on how to engage in effective communication, provide a value-add PMO and empowering willing and able employees. Business and IT need to identify tactics to partner versus undermine one another.
