I have been working at Dillard's full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Some of the sales associates are some real characters - fun, interesting people. You do get to see all the new merchandise first.

Cons

Long hours, low pay, very little real autonomy the upper store management major micro-managers. Overall people are very unhappy with this company and it's been this way for many years, but at least we have jobs and they do pay the sales associate a good hourly rate they just need to maintain their SPH to maintain it.

Advice to Management

I really don't think upper management really cares, they are more concern with the bottom line.

    I worked at Dillard's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Discount, that's about it...potential for making good money, if you can stay there long enough

    Cons

they tend to put insane people in the role of "store manager," Every single person I worked with there was actively looking for another job. Be careful with this, because when they found out some people were looking, they fired them.

    Advice to Management

Make future store managers go through psychological evaluations, instead of letting a store manager put one store after the other in the toilet, then just moving them around rather than getting rid of them.

    I worked at Dillard's full-time

    Pros

Most associates were fun to work with

    Cons

Manager was micro-manager. Did not care about associates. Only worried about SPH. Good associates were not rewarded for hard work and good work ethics. Good associates did not stay. If management did not like you they made it quite obvious. They made it so hard on you that you finally quit or were fired. Management was caught being dishonest and was covered up.

    Advice to Management

Treat the associates the way you would want to be treated. You would keep good associates.
