Pros

You get 50% off merchandise upon hiring. The pay is better than most other retail stores. The customers are classier than other retail stores. It's not a junk store; the merchandise is nice and is nicely displayed. Closing duties are minimal.

Cons

Managament is awful. There is a lot of waste in time inefficiency and other materials wastes. Sometimes the sales quotas are unrealistic. Not much room for promotion. The Christmas parties suck now that anyone is allowed to attend and not just VIP members.

Advice to Management

Clean your act up. Pay attention to what is happening around you.

    Pros

If you dedicate your life to serving the store you can move up fast and make a lot of money.

    Cons

More work than could ever actually be completed by one person, manage people by constantly writing them up and threatening their jobs, revolving door policy where if sales people don't make their numbers within 3 months they're gone, which means just when they're getting the hang of the job and making their sales it's already too late for them to make up for the first 2 months and they're going to get fired and replaced with someone else with no retail experience who responded to the craigslist add.

Benefits might as well not exist. They're a joke. 800+/month just for employee and spouse and they're not even very good. 2 weeks time off, get your 3rd after 10 (!!!) years.

    Advice to Management

Stop writing people up and focus on actually building skills.

  2. Long hours and little time or care for personal life

    Pros

Good entry level pay, somewhat flexible schedule, discounts.

    Cons

Pressure to make sales, long hours. I worked 55 plus hours a week in my department, Bc they claimed they couldn't find anyone to with the qualifications needed. How hard is it to sell shoes?
