I worked at Dillard's full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Some of the people I worked with, the product selection, was allowed to merchandise a little differently (in one store). Store manager was great, again (at one store).

    Cons

Upper Mgmt. did not really listen, some people were allowed to say what ever came out of their mouths, no matter what the consequence might be. Store mgr. was not very friendly and appealing to most mgrs. and associates. Not really allowed to visually set up departments as we thought they should (to improve product sell through). Did not set mgrs. up for success with staff levels, or hire right person for the right place. I never have worked for a company where so many employees did not like where they worked.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look into who is really in your chain of command. Properly train mgrs., at all levels, and create a more positive environment. Give dept. level mgrs. so free will to move and arrange product to improve sell through.
