Pros

Mostly nice people. Impossible to get fired even when you don't make quota

Cons

same problem that never gets resolved. Poor Marketing/VP of Sales. When asked "What can we do to make your more successful?" We say, Better leads. It's basically cold calling off a purchased list. They keep asking what is wrong and we keep telling them and nothing happens.

    Pros

Technology playground, Cisco, Microsoft, F5, polycom, Juniper, Infoblocks, SourceFire
You get all the software you need to do your job and showcase to your customers

    Fast approvals wih structured approach.

Great pay and good partner training with bonuses

    Cons

Need to improve cap strucuture for sales. Need kore incentive to make kore for the company. When you are at max quoata what is the incentice to work harder. Would rather spend time with my kids instead of work for another persons bonus.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I found that treating all emplyees respectkfully and making them feel important especially if they feel insigmificant can help that person focus on their work and feel good about themselves. Awards and peer recognitiin helps but the biggist benefit management can endorce is great ethics where employes feel falued and important for what theymdo for the company.

Management needs to better educate employees on the employe positions. There are many roles and situatiins where you need to know who to go to and for new employes there is limited guidance..Better informatiin on who to collavorate with will reduce confusion among teams. Si,mple diagrams hy employee tyoe will do. Also need to know who reports to who.

Current Employee - Sales in Raleigh, NC

    Pros

    Great people. Broad portfolio.
    Investment in Solution Selling

    Cons

Management acts like an operating system over the Ops and salesforce...which is the machine. This is not one unit functioning towards a goal. The machine is tweaked and limited - produce more, cost less. Decisions are made in an insulated manner and sometimes are quite off, causing huge damage (like the time they aligned 5 specialists to work a single account without any leader accross the entire customer base...lost clients and Cisco AM relationships). When you work here in sales you are inspected and regulated and interaction with management is dominated by forcasting...endless salesforce.com inspection calls.

Dimension Data is very proud of its methodology and will take every opportunity to create more. Risk is over-addressed by process and meetings and reviews of reviews. Smart people watching smart people who are overseen by other smart people...get it?

Too transactional - can't seem to break out

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1. get on the same side as your sales people and get connected with them - come down a couple levels - it will help.
    2. cut out the red tape and any process that doesn't directly contribute to a goal.
    3. autonomy with accountability - let people make decisions, manage when they make bad ones
    4. it's OK if some people in sales make more than you - don't try to limit these folks because you'll lose them
